OCEAN THERMAL ENERGY CONVERSION

Many various activities have done to overcame the energy problems and energy sources problem. One of them are uses energy prodiced by heat ocean called Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC). Ocean Thermal Enrgy (OTEC) is a method for generating electricity which uses temperature differences that exist between deep and shallow waters to run heat engine.

Temperature is a physical properly of a system that underlines the common nations of hot and cold, something that feels hotter generally has higher temperature. Beside that, temperature is onae of principal parameters of thermodynamics which in microscopic it could show energy of something. The greatest energy which explored from this temperature is energy that come from the largest of temperature differences that exist between deep and shallow waters in the ocean, that caused by the sun heat continually. So the temperature differences generally increases with decreasing latitude or near equator. Then the greatest energy produced by largest temperature differences uses to run a heat engine. Heat engine is a physical or theretical device that coverts thermal energy “heat” to mechanical output ‘work”. It’s typically run on specific thermodynamic cycle and can open or closed cycle. In engineering and thermodynamics, a hate engine perfoms the conversions of heat energy to mechanical work by exploiding the temperature gradient between hot and cold. This principles is used in steam turbines and internal combustion engines, while refrigerates reverse the direction of flow of both the heat and work energy. Rather than using heat energy from the burning of fuel, OTEC power draws on temperature differences caused by the sun’s warming of the ocean surface.

To sum up, engineers give opinion if OTEC would be technology of electricity generator that very competen in future. OTEC is also can generate electricity until gigawatt scale, and within fusion it with electrolysis system will produce enough hydrogen to change consume the burning of fuel.
